 Stephanie's bio

 

A former journalist and an EMMY Award-winning independent filmmaker, Stephanie has been developing television documentaries since 1989.  She holds an Executive MBA (2000) from the University of Hawaii.  Her many awards include  3 CINE Golden Eagles, and a Progress Award from the Hawaii United Filipino Council and a Pamana Arts Legacy Award in recognition of her contribution to the Filipino American community through the documentary AN UNTOLD  TRIUMPH.     Her company 'Olena Media is based in Honolulu and has producing partners in Honolulu, Los Angeles, and Washington DC.   She also produces marketing, educational and promotional videos.

SANDAAN

 

      A 90-minute documentary created for the 2006 Filipino American Centennial by Stephanie's filmmaking partner, director Sonny Izon.   

     Once again, she is his co-writer and in this his co-producer;.      

  In 2005, their award-winning An Untold Triumph aired in prime time PBS.  

Sandaan is an intimate family album of Filipino experiences in America during the past one hundred years – at times exhilarating, at times bittersweet, but ultimately a determined and triumphant journey toward claiming America as home.
